1974 was a very good year! We were a small handful of the 3.996 billion people on earth.

Actors Leonardo DiCaprio & Amy Adams were born.

The Oakland A’s won the World Series.

President Nixon resigned after Watergate.

Eggs cost $.78/dozen & you could mail a letter for $.10.

We watched All In The Family & M*A*S*H on TV.

And, most importantly, we were launched out into the world. Our soundtrack was the Allman Brothers “Ramblin’ Man” & “Got A Lot Of Livin’ To Do” from Bye Bye Birdie.

What are your favorite memories of senior year?

During this Teacher Appreciation Week, saluting our classmates who donned the mantle of education and became teachers: Delta Meily Tereschuk, George Stimson, Kim Leisner Ogle, Laura Green King, Margaret Fogwell Watson, Mark Saliba, Sally Herron Hogan, Tim Hand, and yours truly. (Please let me know if I left out anyone.) Thank you!!! Also remembering those teachers who inspired, challenged and motivated us when we were students. Who were your favorite teachers during your time in San Marino schools?

1956 was a great year. We were born (yea!), and San Marino High School held its first commencement ceremony. After splitting from the joint South Pasadena-San Marino High School in 1951, what was the site of K.L. Carver school was remodeled to accommodate older students, including adding a pool, science wing, and auditorium. The Titan mascot was adopted and named after Mt. Titano in the Republic of San Marino. Carver moved to its current location, and the rest, as they say, is (our) history. (BTW: There is an entire weekend in June devoted to celebrating our collective history. RSVP now to swap stories and reminisce together.) REUNION RSVP

Our 50th reunion is only 4 short months away. This is a time for us to celebrate our collective history, especially since some of us have known each other since Kindergarten!

The focus of the weekend will be about connecting with friends, old and new.

Saturday night will be graciously hosted by Page and Tom Haralambos at their home in San Marino. The elegant ambience, created by the setting and the catering, will center around opportunities that evoke memories and facilitate conversation.

Friday evening will be the Kickoff to Reunion Weekend, and Sunday we’ll make the final memories together at a Brunch. Both events will be in or near San Marino. 

The fees will be affordable, and there are scholarships available so everyone who wants to come is able to. We will be using Eventbrite for RSVPs to all events and for scholarship donations. We will send an email when the site is up and running.

While the reunion committee finalizes details, please be in touch with classmates and encourage them to join us. Soon we’ll post a list of those classmates with inaccurate contact information, and hopefully you can help us locate them.

Hi Classmates: Reunion minus 2 days! Whether you’re able to attend or not, you can see the photos taken at both events. All photos taken on the phones that have the app between Fri and Sat night will be available to everyone who has the app on your phone. Before Friday, download the free app The Guest, create a profile, search for and click on SMHS Class of 1974. The event password is 74 Forevermore.

If you’re having trouble, here’s what Brooks Bowman said: “When you hit the search “magnifying glass” icon, it will ask for an “event code”. The event code is the password. I typed it in exactly how Debbie has it: 74 Forevermore7That is how it worked for me.”
